About The Whole Dog & Dr. Jeannie Thomason:
Dr. Jeanette (Jeannie) Thomason is the founder of the whole dog. She is a Certified Animal Naturopath/natural animal health coach with a doctorate in veterinary naturopathy. She is a published author, natural rearing dog breeder and educator with a focus on species specific nutrition as the foundation for a thriving, long life for our companion animals.
The Whole Dog was created in 2003 to provide education, support and and resources to help you, help your dogs thrive in a long, healthy life
Thriving animals don’t have constant health challenges, not even minor issues, they have strong, balanced immune systems and they vigorously; flourish. Something sadly not seen very often these days.
My name is Jeannie Thomason, I’m an Animal Naturopath (Natural Animal Health and Wellness Coach) with a doctorate in veterinary naturopathy with 30 years of experience educating and guiding dog lovers in cultivating the healthiest environment and lifestyle possible for their canine companions.
I am deeply committed to bringing knowledge and education to the general public, assisting dog lovers in their quest for better and true health for their caning companions, and to ensure they understand that there are safe, natural options available to them.
I believe education is vital. My passion and goal is to empower people with knowledge and support them on their journey on the path of natural health for their companion animals.
The truly naturopathic philosophy and approach that I teach, live by and work with, looks at and works with “the whole dog”, in a natural way that addresses their minds as well as their bodies. Natural wellness is about igniting the body’s own internal healing force and stimulating its natural abilities to heal itself.
To simply cover up or temporarly eliminate a symptom is NOT the same as elimination of the cause of the physical dis-ease that produced that symptom or symptoms in the first place.
I am not a veterinarian but a teacher. I do not heal dis-ease, but rather, offer experience and information that can help you to make educated decisions for the true health of your companion canine’s mind and body.
I am dedicated to educating and hopefully inspiring others to provide a more natural and truly healthy environment and lifestyle for their dog(s) while building a stronger bond in the process .
When choosing to bring a dog into our lives, it should only be done with a total commitment to a long term, healthy relationship with them – caring for them in as natural, non-forceful and stress free way possible, allowing them to be dogs but with the ability to live in our human world.
For those who have only ever known conventional pet care methods, the natural approach may at first seem to go against almost everything you know. This is because conventional methods have been developed from the human perspective and always based on “treating” symptoms and some kind of force.
As an animal naturopathic practitioner, my goal is to help you detect the root of the cause of your pet’s physical and/or mental problems and how to cooperate with nature’s laws of health to assist your dog’s mind and body (immune system) to re-balance and then maintain health.
Naturopathy is not a single modality of healing, but a lifestyle that incorporates nature’s array of healing modalities, including nutrition; aromatherapy, herbal medicine, homeopathy; hydrotherapy or other natural modalities.
