As usual, hopefully none of you health savy readers are still feeding your dogs processed pet food (canned or kibble) but in case you are or if you know someone who still is this alert may be of interest to you.
On October 30, 2012, WellPet LLC of Tewksbury, MA announced it was recalling a limited batch of one of its dry dog food products due to moisture contamination.
According to a statement made by the company on its Facebook page:
“a small amount of 12lb Small Breed Adult Health Dry Dog Food with the â€œBest Byâ€ date of August 18, 2013 was found to be higher in moisture than our recipe calls for. High moisture may cause food to mold before its expiration date …”
